Since 3D Printing builds up objects layer by layer parts, the following key
benchmarking properties have been identified in order to characterize the
mix:
▪ Maximum workability to have adhesive and homogeneous layers with maximum flowability,
▪ Extrudability to reach continuous easy-flow paste from source,
▪ Strong bonding between layers,
▪ Maximum compressive strength,
▪ Low setting time,
▪ Maximum buildability to avoid collapse.

▪ Generally speaking, the cable robot printers have the advantage of being more mobile/movable than gantry printers and of being able to print certain prints due to the 4 DOF movement. Gantry printers on the other hand typically have cost and stability advantages, where cable robot offers the ability to make larger prints and even print entire buildings in one go (as opposed to the more limited prints of gantry printers and the arm robot printers need for printing single elements). Cable robot and gantry printers also allow non-continuous printing, which is needed when printing entire buildings, and are far easier to control and does not require highly skilled programmers.

To print any project or a structure the following is required: Buildink’s 3D printer, automated concrete preparation and feeding unit, electrical connection or autonomous generator of electricity, water supply.

First there must be a smooth foundation so that we can print the project on top of it. Meanwhile, before the is initiated Buildink’s 3D printer automatically scans the surface of the terrain, and then prints a permanent formwork to compensate for differences in height of up to 10 cm. The team will install the printer around the printing area, and there are no requirements for this part.

Buildink’s concrete 3D mix, and designed to be compatible with 3D printing. We are collaborating with laboratories around the world to compile with safety standards. The mix can be customized and designed based on the strength requirements and pumping system used. The time-dependent effects on our formulation are null using our unique High- Performance Concrete, no drying shrinkage and well-controlled plastic shrinkage due to high-quality controlled processing. The performance of our fiber-reinforced concrete has been specifically developed for 3D printing applications. Its formulation with a very low W/C ratio provides high ductility, low permeability, and consequently high durability. Our concrete mix provides flexibility and high-volume stability. The 3D Printed concrete curing is performed within a few hours. Buildink is currently working on a new mix with ultra-high flexural strength property in an attempt to nearly compensate for the lack of steel reinforcement in comparison to conventional reinforced concrete.
Fibers are included in the mix, based on the project use case, we can include metal while printing. The foundation of the house must have metal to avoid flexure from ground soil. As we go further in the research and development in multi-level housing, we may get another case scenario.
